…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 4:1-16

“So I returned and considered…” – Ecclesiastes 4:1a(KJV)

A lot of people have had disastrous experiences because of their inability to return and consider. There should be a time set aside to reflect over the goings around us if we are to last and leave enduring legacy for the people coming behind us. Unfortunately, many Christians also do not see the need for them to set aside a specific time for evaluation of where they are coming from, where they are and chart a course of where they are going. For there to be an impact that would affect the world and the Kingdom of Christ which we represent, this subject matter of having moments of reflection must be taken seriously.

Our fathers of old paid serious attention to this subject matter. This was what made Solomon to see what he had not noticed earlier. He saw oppressions that are done under the sun. He then discovered something that was peculiar to both the powerful and the weak, they both lacked comfort. Being in position of power does not equate with the fact that one has automatic access to comfort. This discovery made him feel that it is better for one not be born than for him to be born and see evil on earth. But here you are, already on the planet earth. All you need do is avoid the pit that the people ahead fell into in order not to get reprimanded by God. How do you get that done? Reflect!

Solomon never got tired of returning to consider: “then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun…I consider all living which walk under the sun…” – Ecclesiastes 4:7&15(KJV). It was as a result of this set apart time that made him discover the mystery and advantage of two persons to one. If you are still single and you are of age to marry, have you asked what is still keeping you waiting? Are you married and situation is not going on well as expected, have you stopped to reflect on what went wrong? As we have come to the end of the first half of the year, I encourage you to set aside a moment of reflection and receive direction for the second half of the year.

Prayer: Lord, help me not to miss your mind for the second half of the year in Jesus name.
