Following the slaughter of the Shechemites by Jacobs children in a vengeful rage for their sister’s defilement, Jacob’s family was in danger. ”Jacob said to Simeon…and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and …my house.”– Gen.34:30.
In today’s meditation, God provided solution for escape from the obvious danger.
1. They were told to go up to Bethel (house of God).
Where God met Jacob when he fled from Esau and as a result found grace before Esau.
2. They must sanctify themselves and be holy before God.
3. Jacob was to make ”an altar unto God who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which l went”. – Gen.35:3.
In today’s world that is full of dangers, uncertainty and insecurity, let’s go back to the place where we first met Him, renew our prayer altar and keep ourselves pure.
”He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” – PS.91:1.
Prayer: Dear father, thank you for making yourself available for me. I come by grace to you, not on visit, but to abide in constant fellowship. In Jesus name.
