Bible Reading: Isaiah 5:1-30
“Therefore my people are gone into captivity; because they have no knowledge and their honourable men are famished and their multitude dried up with thirst” – Isaiah 5:13 (KJV).
Ignorance is the greatest undoing of man. People are not destroyed for poor economy or for recession or for demonic activities. It is not because Satan and his cohorts are very wicked neither is it because sin is very powerful. It is rather because man lack knowledge of God and his provisions.
Satan, sin and bad economy are not man’s major problem; ignorance of God and his redemptive provisions in Christ is. Today, due to lack of knowledge, man is captivated by sin, Satan and servitude. People are enslaved to self-defeating habits like drug addition, illicit sex drive, pornography and drunkenness. Freedom has eluded so many and they cannot find rest or peace of mind. They experiment with all kinds of ungodly activities in search of peace and joy that has for long eluded them. In search of fulfillment and relevance, Israel abandoned the true God and began to fraternize with the foreign gods of the nations around them. They lost their victory, wealth and even their freedom. They became captives to people who they once captured. Their ignorance made them believe that they will be better off by copying the ungodly nations around them. In a bit to find a better life, they lost the life they once had.
There is no better life outside God. Freedom, peace, joy and life itself can only be found in Christ. “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” – John 17:3(KJV). Freedom is only found in Christ. Outside him is captivity. No one is truly free who has not known Christ; he is the one that sets people free.
PRAYER: Dear, Lord, help me to enjoy the liberty in Christ.
