Bible Reading: Isaiah 6:1-13
“Make the hearts of these people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart; and convert, and be healed” – Isaiah 6:10 (KJV).
When a people are about to face destruction, they harden their hearts, block their ears, and close their eyes to the word, sound counsel and prophetic voice from God. When God wants to judge a people, he hardens their hearts and blocks their ears to the voice of reasoning. When the devil wants to destroy a people, he hardens their hearts, blinds them from perceiving the truth of the gospel and blocks their ears so they will not hear.
One often wonders at the hardness of heart of this generation. All sorts of wicked practices and evils seem to have taken over this generation. There is no more respect of lives and fear of God in the hearts of people. Anyone who hardens his heart to the gospel of Christ is trading the path of destruction. The gospel of Christ is the power unto salvation. “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God, should shine unto them” – 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (KJV).
When the Holy Spirit opens one’s eyes and heart to perceive the truth of the gospel, it leads one to salvation. What is the state of your heart? Is your heart open to the gospel or is it hardened? You can ask the Holy Spirit to melt your heart and to cause the light of the gospel to shine in your path.
PRAYER: Dear Holy Spirit, cause the glorious light of the gospel to shine in my heart and make it receptive to the gospel in Jesus name.
