Bible Reading: Isaiah 7:1-25
“Thus saith the Lord God, it shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass” – Isaiah 7:7 (KJV).
Just as God has his agents who carry out his counsel on earth, Satan also has his agents all over the world who carry out his destructive mission. The agents of Satan cast spells on people, make wicked enchantments and divinations to undo them. We live in a world full of darkness and all forms of wickedness. The devil came to steal, to kill and to destroy. People are Satan’s agents who carry out these wicked activities. In the above text, Rezin, the king of Syria, Pekah, the king of Israel and Ephraim took evil counsel against Judah to destroy Judah in the days of Ahaz the son of Jothan, king of Judah. Judah was the people of God, their commitment to God attracted the rage and anger of the ungodly people. There is always enmity between light and darkness, between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan. God’s people are often exposed to attack from the kingdom of darkness because Satan hates Jesus and his people.
The good news is that there is divine protection for God’s children. “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord” – Isaiah 54:17 (KJV).
But for God’s timely intervention, these three nations would have overrun Judah. Because the blacksmith that fashion the weapons and the instruments used by the soldiers are created by God, he knows how to frustrate their weapons. “In righteousness shall thou be established: thou shall be far from oppression; for thou shall not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee” – Isaiah 54:14 (KJV). It does not matter how much the enemies have perfected their plans, God can frustrate it to save his people. When the three kings that teamed up against Judah have perfected their plans, God sent his word to the king of Judah assuring him that the evil counsel against Judah shall not stand neither shall it come to pass. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed. Faith in God frustrates the arrows and spell of the devil.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, frustrate the devices of the devil against me in Jesus name.
