Bible Reading: Isaiah 12:1-6
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation” – Israel 12:2 (KJV)
God was angry with man when he sinned and went astray. Man in his depraved state became the object of God’s wrath. In Christ, the love of God was revealed, God transferred the sin of man on Christ and the wrath of God was borne by Christ on the cross. He took man’s sin, and the consequences of man’s sin. Jesus became the great exchange; carried our sins, our death, our courses and suffered the wrath of God for sin: he became the ransom for man’s sins and purchased eternal salvation for man by his blood of sacrifice on the cross. In exchange for man’s sin, he gave man his righteousness. In exchange for the wrath of God, he gave man his blessings. In the place of rejection, he gave man forgiveness and acceptance. In exchange for man’s diseases, he gave man healing and divine health. And in the place of death Jesus gave the repentant man eternal life.
In Christ, man can now sing a new song, a song of peace with God, a song of love, a song of hope of eternal life, a song of love and a song of eternal salvation. Jesus has become our salvation. It is a song of freedom. “If the son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” – John 8:36 (KJV).
Salvation is freedom or deliverance from sin, sickness and servitude. Jesus the son of God sets man free, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” – Acts 4:12 (KJV). The law giver took the place of the sinner. He took our death and went to hell in our place so we can be with him in heaven. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” – 2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV).
Amazing grace, how sweet that sounds, once lost but now in Christ I am found, once dead but now in Christ I have been made alive. This is the story and song of the redeemed.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I thank you for so great a salvation.
