Bible Reading: Isaiah 17:1-14
“At that day shall a man look to his maker, and his eye shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images” – Isaiah 17:7-8(KJV)
Right from the time a child understands ownership of things, she/he begins to claim ownership of toys, cookies, plates, cuttlerries, bed, etc. The desire to acquire things then sets in and there is no end to it.
As man acquires personal items, the tendency is to unknowingly turn some of them to gods. Whatever a man cannot do without, no doubt, has become his god! And when we examine our lives, there is every likelihood we’d discover one or two things having such appearance.
Today is an opportune time to look to God our Maker (Isaiah 17:7-8, Hebrews 12:2), so that we may be perfect and entire, lacking nothing. Everything we have will then be interpreted as the love of God expressed in the purpose of that thing. For example, food is the love of God made edible!
Prayer: Help me Holy Spirit to see all things in the perspective of Christ’ in Jesus name. Amen!
