Bible Reading: Isaiah 33:1-24
“For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us.” – Isaiah 33:22 KJV
There is a natural tendency to look up to someone that you believe can and will accomplish a task for you. This can be in the course of parental or sibling relationship that makes a suckling baby look to the mum to breastfeed her or a younger brother trusting an older one to protect him in school against the bully in his class.
The same happens in the world of work or business, but this is more of an exchange. A full month’s work in exchange for a full month’s pay — the employee and the employer both trusting that the other will play his part.
Even so is our spiritual life. Unless we walk in the consciousness of Jesus as our lawgiver, we may not fully keep our attention to him. Hebrews 12:2(KJV) says “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith:…..” Yet, the distractions that make us look away from him can be really dangerous, as Peter found out in Mathew 14:28-30. If we keep our focus on him, he will save us.
Prayer: Lord I’m grateful for the privilege of having you as my lawgiver. Grant me the grace to keep my attention on you. Amen.
