Bible Reading: 2 Chron 12; Col 3:14-25.
“And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the Lord , and all Israel with him.” – 2 Chronicles 12:1 (KJV).
Some years ago, I had just left the banking sector after seeking the face of God on what to do next. The Lord revealed to me a company I should go to for consultancy and investment.
I obeyed and invested in this company and the result was outstanding. It was so good that I had to tell God, it was enough at a time.
However, this did not last as I invested most part of the proceeds on what I considered to be great opportunities without seeking the face of God on whether I should do it or not.
Expectedly, the seemingly great investment went awry and I made a great loss which continued to hurt me for a number of years.
This is similar to what Rehoboam did after securing himself as the king of Judah. The bible says in 2 Chronicles 12:1 (KJV), “And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.”
Based on this, the Lord caused Shishak, king of Egypt to war against Rehoboam. And the land of Judah would have been devastated but for the quick repentance of the king and the princes of Judah ( 2 Chron. 12:6-7).
Similarly if you are going through any challenge or storm, you need to examine yourself and check if you have transgressed any precept of the Lord or dishonoured the Lord at any time. If so, just repent and ask for mercy as King Rehoboam did and was pardoned. As you call on God today for mercy, He shall hearken unto your voice and you shall testify of His goodness in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to seek your face concerning all matters and follow your instructions no matter how difficult or ridiculous it looks.
