“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” – Colossians 4:2 KJV
Prayer is key in everything that we do. That is why God stated through Apostle Paul that we should not worry on anything but commit everything concerning us into prayer. Philippians 4:6 (KJV) says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
When we pray to God on all our issues, we are telling God that we have no power of our own and that He should come to our aid to provide solution to the issue. It is a show of humility.
God also tells us that without faith, it is not possible to please Him. Hebrews 11:6 (KJV), “But without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” So for us to please God, we need to show faith in everything we do. That also includes our prayer. We should believe that he would answer our prayers.
Praying to God is like sowing a seed. Once you sow the seed, you need to water it so that it can grow. Even after growing, you need to continually watch over it till it starts yielding the desired fruit? How do you watch over the seed of prayer, it is by thanksgiving to God Almighty. That’s why Colossians 4:2 (KJV) says, “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” We are to watch our prayer with thanksgiving at all times for it to yield the desired result.
Watching over your prayer with thanksgiving means thanking God continuously for what you have received and what you are expecting. As you watch over your prayer continuously, you shall receive speedy answers in Jesus name.
Action Point: Thank God for what he has done for you in the past and what you are expecting from him for thirty minutes today. Do not ask for anything; just thank Him.
