Bible Reading: 2 Chronicle 27. 1 Timothy 1:11- 20
“Holding faith and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck” – 1 Timothy 1:19 (KJV).
The issue of faith and a good conscience is a vital issue in our relationship with God. A strong and unwavering faith and a conscience void of offence are absolute necessities for a healthy walk with God and the kingdom race in general. Effort is required to keep the faith alive considering that our faith is constantly on trial. Most people give up faith in the midst of life’s challenges, trials and temptations. Apostle Jude admonished us to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to us (Jude 3). We are called to fight the good fight of faith. To wage war against anything that could attack our faith and stand by our conviction. There is the need to hold tenaciously to our faith in God and his word because, without faith, it is impossible to please God or to receive from God.
A good conscience will enhance our faith but a weak or defiled conscience will weaken our faith. The devil attacks our minds by his accusations to weaken our faith in God and ultimately rob us of answers to our prayers since a double minded man is unstable in all his ways and so cannot receive anything from God.
When our conscience is defiled or polluted with sin consciousness, our confidence, boldness and faith are hindered thereby denying us access to God in prayer and fellowship.
Commitment to holiness will strengthen our faith and give us a conscience void of offence towards God and man.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to hold unto faith and a good conscience.
