Bible Reading: 2 Chronicle 32. 1 Timothy 4:1-8
“Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him” – 2 Chronicles 32:7 (KJV).
There is more to life than what the five senses can perceive. Those who base their judgments and conclusion on visible realities make a big mistake because what we see, feel or perceive with the five-senses are not all that exists.
Judging by the senses, Hezekiah and Israel is finished, hopeless and defeated. The few soldiers with him cannot stand the multitude and innumerable company with Sennacherib, king of Assyria. It would be a suicidal mission for Hezekiah to confront Assyria with the few soldiers of Judah. Sennacherib, king of Assyria has concluded in his mind, judging by the multitude of people on his side and the few with Hezekiah that Judah will be humiliated. What a poor judgment.
Hezekiah who understood the reality of the invisible world encouraged Judah to be courageous and strong that there are more with them than with Sennacherib. His confidence was rooted in God and the myriads of angelic forces. His confession and declaration proved that he understood that there is another realm of reality apart from this physical reality. “With him is an arm of flesh: but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah, king of Judah” – 2 Chronicles 32:8 (KJV).
The invisible world is more real than the visible world, though we cannot perceive it or touch it with our hands, yet it is real and can be perceived by faith. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” – 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV). We don’t have to see it or touch it before we believe; for the natural man, seeing is believing but for the spiritual man, believing is seeing. “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed. Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” – John 20:29 (KJV).
PRAYER: Lord, help me to walk by faith and not by sight.
