Bible Reading: Job 27, Jam.2:8-14
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point , he is guilty of all” – James 2:10 (KJV).
Several years ago, when I was taking my professional accounting examinations, the condition for qualifying was a bit strict. We had about three levels of examinations. Each level consisted of four subjects, and if you fail in any of the subjects in a level, no matter what you score in others, you would be adjudged to have failed that level. You will need to take all the subjects at that level again.
This is similar to what obtains in the laws of God. There are several laws and if you run foul of any of the laws, no matter how well you did in others, you will be judged to be guilty of all. Thus, if you are guilty of adultery but has not committed murder or stolen anything from anyone, you will be judged guilty! James 2:10 (KJV) says: “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point , he is guilty of all.”
That is why we cannot live a life of holiness by our strength but must rely on the Holy Spirit to lead us in the right way to ensure we live above all forms of sin. For God is holy and without holiness no man shall see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14).
Jesus will present a church without spot, wrinkle or blemish to himself. So any form of sin in the life of any Christian will prevent him/her from being joined with Christ. Ephesians 5:27 (KJV) says: “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
This is why we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12).
Prayer:
Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, let me live a life that pleases you always.
