…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 14/12/2017

Bible Reading:  Job 32, Jam.4:1-8.

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” – James 4:6 (KJV).
Grace is defined as unmerited divine assistance given humans for their regeneration or sanctification.  We do not work for the grace of God. It is given to us by the benevolence of God. So we are saved by Grace. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV): “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

God also forgives us our sins by His grace. Isaiah 43:25 (KJV) says: “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”  Similarly, it is grace that sustains us as stated in Philippians 2:13 (KJV): “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”  Also, our healing (Psalm 147:3), transformation ( Rom. 12:2) and maturity in Christ (2 Pet. 3:18) among others are by the Grace of God.

Grace is generally classified into two; Common Grace and Special Grace. Common grace is the unmerited favour that God gives everybody; believers and unbelievers alike. e.g. when rain falls, it is for everyone whether Christians or non- Christians. Common grace exerts Gods sovereign power and brings things people need and like. On the other hand, Special Grace brings favour only to a targeted group of recipients. Like it’s stated in James 4:6 (KJV): “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” In this case, special grace is for the humble!

The Grace of God is sufficient for us and is available to those who ask him. By the Grace of God, we will be able to achieve what appears impossible to men. May God release his grace upon you so that you will fulfill his purpose for your life in Jesus name.

Prayer: Father let your grace envelope me and my family from now on, in Jesus name.
