…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 19/12/2017

Bible Reading: Job 37; 1 Pet. 1:9-16

“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” – 1 Peter 1:16 (KJV).

Holiness is the essence of God. He is holy and so does not expect us to be less. He expects all his children to be holy. That is why he says in 1 Peter 1:16 (KJV): “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”  Without holiness, no man can see the Lord (Heb 12:14). This is why the word of God says clearly in Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV): “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”

Holiness is obedience to the commandments of God. As long as we follow his instructions, we will be pleasing him and that means no sin will be found in us. This was the testimony of enemies of Daniel concerning his life when they testified in Daniel 6:4 (KJV): “Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.”

Faithfulness to God is what is expected of all the children of God. And when this is so, we will be able to establish our position as the head and not the tail. We will decree and it shall be established. This is what God told the Israelites in  Deuteronomy 28:1 (KJV): “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:”

To obey the commandments of God, we need to know them. That’s why we need to study our bible regularly. We will also need to fellowship with him regularly so that we can get used to him. The more time we spend in his presence, the better we know him and the easier we understand him and how to dwell more in His presence. We must also have faith in him to continually obey him. This is why it is stated in Heb 11:6 that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Also , we know that God is love , so we need to love God and all creations of God if we are to live a life of Holiness.

Prayer point: Father, give me the grace to live a life of holiness continuously.
