Bible Reading: Psalm 3; 1 Peter 4:1-10
“I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.” – Psalm 3:5 (KJV)
There is a thin line between death and life. When one sleeps and wakes up anytime, he should give thanks to God almighty for waking him up. Psalm 3:5 (KJV) says: “I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.” A number of people sleep and never wake up. When you awake every morning, it shows that God has sustained you and it is for you to achieve a purpose. Ecclesiastes 9:4 (KJV) says: “For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.” No matter how intelligent, resourceful or pleasant, once one dies, he can no longer change or achieve anything. But for any one living, there is a purpose for God sustaining your life and you need to ask him so that his purpose for your life will not be in vain.
This is why it is important that you seek God’s face early in the morning so that you know his plan for your life for that day and ensure you walk in it. When you seek his face early in the morning, you are acknowledging him as your Lord and he will direct your path ( Prov. 3:6). Sustenance by God also implies that he will provide for your needs, protect you from harm, give you sound health and chart a path for you.
However you need to be able to hear him to take possession of all these blessings, and the way to hear him is coming to him regularly to fellowship with him such that he can tell you how to run the day successfully and sometimes tell you about others so that you can intercede for them. To make that effective, you must be obedient to his instructions and live a life pleasing unto him. The grace for you to please God in all your ways, he will grant to you in Jesus name.
Similarly, when you are about to lay your head at night, there is need to thank God for taking you through the day , ask for mercy for any transgression along the way and his protection all through the night.
It is also important that anytime you embark on any journey or project, you need to thank God and ask for his divine guidance and he will sustain you. He says in Psalm 32:8 (KJV): “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
Prayer: Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, please open my ears to hear you every time you talk to me.
