…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Psalm 5; 1 Pet. 5:1-7

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

When a new baby is born, the mother wants to attend to it as much as possible. Whenever the baby cries, the mother is touched and she tries as much as she can to take care of the need of the baby. In fact, in those days when there were no mobile phones, the mothers then used to tell us that whenever their babies cried, they would feel some sensation in their breast to put them on alert.

That is the level of the connection between a mother and her baby. The link between God and his children is thicker, and God is always sensitive to the needs of his children. That’s why the bible says when you are in trouble, you should call on God Almighty and he will answer you and also show you great and mighty things you do not know (Jer. 33:3). However God has given us a choice to either heed his call or do it ourselves, but he advises that we should come to him.  This is because he cares for us and that’s why he says in 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV): “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

God will not force anyone but expects you to take the path of humility by coming to him with whatever your challenges. When you come to him asking for help, it shows you are humble and that you recognize your limitation and the mightiness of God. On the other hand, when you decide to handle the matter yourself, it shows you believe you have all it takes to handle the challenge, and this has some element of pride. In that case, God may not intervene in the matter. This often leads to anxiety , frustration and, in some cases, depression!

Meanwhile, God says in Philippians 4:6 (KJV): “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” So God expects you as his child,  to come to him asking for direction and he promises to direct your path as long as you trust in him and acknowledge his sovereignty ( Prov. 3:6). So whatever your challenges, please seek the face of God and place everything on his hands and he will instruct and teach you what to do.

Action Point: Always remember that God cares for you and is waiting for you to come to him with all your worries and let him resolve them for you.
