Bible Reading: Psalm 10, 2 Peter 1: 15-21
“His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity” – Psalm 10: 7 (KJV)
Above is the description of the wicked. The wicked was painted in this scripture (Psalm 10) as someone involved in various sinful acts, such ways as: being full of pride, persecutes the poor, sets snares for the just, imagines evil against the righteous, blesses the covetous, rejects God, blind to God’s judgement, blasphemes, deceives and cheat others, speaks mischief and vanity, plots against his neighbours, murders the innocent and lives secure in his sins. Anyone involved in any of these sins mentioned above is classified as the wicked. Are you then a wicked person by virtue of your involvement in any of these evils noted above? If you are, please note that it was for people like you that Jesus the son of God came to save and deliver.
We were all involved in most of these actions in time past, hence the bible declares in Romans 3:23(KJV): “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” It is the grace of God that brought us salvation and provided a route of escape for humanity. We were like the wicked mentioned exhaustively in Psalm chapter 10 until Jesus came and paid the price of our wickedness, him being made the propitiation for our sins. Having completely paid the price of our sins, God expects us to reciprocate His love by handing over our wretched lives to Him to remake us. Before now, our spirit was dead in sin, but when we accept Christ’s finished work at Calvary we become recipient of a new life in Christ Jesus. The Spirit of God comes in contact with our dead spirit and gives it life. No man is actually going to hell because of sin but for rejecting God’s provision for redemption – Jesus Christ His son. Hebrew 10: 26(KJV) says:“For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.”
In Isaiah 1:18, God extended His invitation of mercy to Humanity, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” In fulfilment of this prophetic invitation God sent his son to pay the price of sin (John 3:16). It is all your fault if you stubbornly refuse this great invitation and allow the devil to keep you in captivity, worse still die in it.
Prayer: Father thank you for providing me a route of escape from my wicked ways to being a child of God.
