Bible Reading: Psalm 15, 2 Pet 3:10-18
“….He who does these things shall never be moved” – Psalm 15: 5b(NKJV)
What are ‘these things’ that can make someone never to be moved? What does the scripture mean by be moved? In our scriptural reading of Psalm 15, the bible enumerated the qualities of a man who can abide in God’s tabernacle and dwell in His holy hill as follows: Upright and works righteousness, must be truthful, does not backbite, does no evil to his neighbour, does not reproach against his friends, despises a vile person and honour those who fear the Lord, he remains truthful even when it hurts him, he does not put out his money at usury and he does not take bribe to hurt the innocent. It is the man who lives by this standard that cannot be moved. His righteousness will speak for him, the bible says concerning him: “You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you shall not be afraid of destruction when it comes. You shall laugh at destruction and famine, and you shall not be afraid of the beast of the earth” – Job 5: 21(NKJV). This is what it means by not be moved.
Concerning this righteous man God shall be his protection; he shall be exempted from the evil and horrors around him. The bible says: “In famine He shall redeem you from death, And in war from the power of the sword” – Job 5:20(NKJV). Why would such a man be moved when he is a recipient of divine and infallible promises of God? The Almighty Himself promised him protection and exemption as stated in Psalm 91:7: “A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right side; but it shall not come near you”. This is what it means by not be moved. Concerning you who is righteous the bible says in Psalm 16:8(NKJV), “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” It pays to live a righteous life. Under the dispensation of grace who is a righteous man? A righteous man is the one whom the Lord has bestowed with the righteousness of Christ, who is sanctified and live out his life pleasing God. We are beneficiaries of Christ’s righteousness. “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” – 2 Cor. 5:21(NKJV). A righteous man works righteousness and live upright. All that is stated in Psalm 15 is about living and doing right. This is what Christ came for. Under the Law, God demanded righteousness from man which we could not give and became guilty. But under grace God bestows man with righteousness and justified us.
My dear reader, you can be the righteous man we have talked about above. All that is required of you is to confess your sin to God, repent of it and accept Christ into your life. When this is done in faith you are accepted in the beloved and you become a recipient of the righteousness of Christ.
PLEASE NOTE THAT TODAY IS YOUR DAY OF SALVATION. TOMORROW MAY BE TOO LATE.
Prayer: Father thank you for the endowment of the righteousness of Christ upon my life, give me the grace to live a sanctified life.
