Bible Reading: Psalm 17, 1 John 2: 1-8
“But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him” – 1 John 2: 5(KJV).
The bible talks of keeping the word of God and not just hearing. Keeping the word guarantees continuous reminder and reference. At all times your attention is drawn to what you keep and you are adequately informed of its content. It is in keeping the word of God that the love of God is perfected in us. Jesus said in John 6:63(KJV): “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profited nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and life.” Again in Ephesians, Paul made a profound statement: “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that ye, being rooted and grounded in love , May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all fullness of God” – Ephesians 3: 17-19(KJV). Christ dwelling in our heart is through the word, being rooted and grounded in love is through the word of God.
The love of God is boundless (breadth), endless (length), fathomless, inexhaustible (depth) and measureless(height). The love of God comprehends all that is above, below, and past, present and future. The love of God reaches to the depth of sin and infamy, to the height of the infinite divinity. It passes all knowledge and wisdom. This indispensable, unfathomable and inestimable love of God is well articulated in His word and can be accessed through His word. The knowledge and the impartation of this great love on man is given by the Spirit via the revelation of the word of God. God’s love is perfected in His word. His word represent the channel to accessing His love and Power. It is no wonder the bible admonish us in Proverb 4:20-22(KJV): “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to their bones.” God is Love and “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, the same was in the beginning with God” – John 1:1-2 (KJV). We can then deduce and conclude that the Word of God is Love. It is the entrance of the word that releases the love of God into our heart by the working of the Holy Spirit. We contact this immeasurable and unfathomable love of God through the word.
God’s love is measured by His gift to humanity (John 3:16). God’s Love descended from the height of infinite divinity to the lowest valley of sin and infamy to save man. This is actually incomprehensible by the limited human knowledge. My dear reader, if you have not embraced this love see what the bible says in Hebrew 2: 3a (KJV): “How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation.” I admonish you to urgently reconcile with your God and be a recipient of this inestimable love extended to us by the Almighty God.
Prayer: Father, I pray that the person reading this piece who have not been reconciled to you, be arrested by your Spirit today, in Jesus Name, Amen.
