Bible Reading: Psalm 30, 2 John 1: 1-7
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world” – Philippians 2:15(KJV)
For us to live a victorious and vibrant Christian life there are three basic knowledge we must possess. These knowledge must be deeply rooted in our heart to confer on us dominion over the issues of life. It is the overcomers’ knowledge. These knowledges are as follows:-
- Knowledge of who you are in Christ Jesus.
- Knowledge of who you represent on earth and,
- Knowledge of your spiritual placement.
It is having the above knowledge and applying them that puts a Christian in command and empowers’ him for dominion. This is what Daniel meant when he said in Daniel 12:3(KJV): “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” The wisdom referred to here is the application of the knowledge stated above. We shall be looking at the knowledge of who we are in Christ Jesus today.
WHO ARE WE IN CHRIST JESUS?
- We are the sons of God created after the order of Christ. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” – John 1:12 (KJV) Our identity as sons was further reiterated by Apostle Paul in Galatians 4:6-7(KJV), “And because ye are sons , God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Jesus Christ. This is what we are that confers on us the authority over all issues of life. The application of this truth empowers us for dominion over the forces of darkness. This was what John the Apostle meant when he said in 1 John 5:4(KJV) “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world:….” The Spirit of his Son dwells in us .
- We are translated persons. At new birth a translation took place in our life, “Giving thanks to the father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” – Col. 1:12-13 (KJV)
- We are complete in Christ. The Apostle Paul writing under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost said “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of Godhead bodily, And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power” – Colossians 2:9-10(KJV). The revelation of this truth was made known to the Psalmist in prophecy when he said in Psalm 82:6(KJV), “I have said, ye are gods: and all of you are children of the most high.”
We need these knowledge of who we are in Christ to be deeply rooted in our heart so as to manifest it. This is the knowledge that will shake the world and subdue the forces of darkness. This is the knowledge that will see the emergence of a glorious and triumphant church of the last day that will demonstrate the power of God among men.
My dear reader I invite you to surrender your life to the Lordship of Christ and be free from the encumbrances and hold of evil.
