Bible Reading: Psalm 54; Revelation 10: 1-11
“Behold, God is my helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul” – Psalm 54:4 (KJV).
Most people live their lives all by themselves, living as orphans in the midst of a caring and loving God who wants to be a father to them. They carry life’s burdens and care all by themselves and walk in loneliness and frustration simply because they fail to see or recognize the helper by their side always willing to help. Such people are weighed down by the load of sin and self-defeating habits; the yoke of addiction and the cares of this life, without recognizing a saviour who has come to carry their load.
They struggle to no avail to overcome sin and live a good life without realizing that only God can make one good. Man’s personal righteousness remains a filthy rag before God. Man’s personal battle against sin remains an illusion and futile religious activity if God does not help because we are not sufficient of our own to do anything of ourselves. Our sufficiency is of God. The battle against sin and cares of this life is not by human power or might but by the spirit of God. Hear the word of Jesus: “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” – Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV). The secret of rest and peace is God’s help. People are destroyed, frustrated and helpless because of lack of knowledge of God’s provisions in Christ. Victory in the battle against sin, sickness and servitude is a mirage until one acknowledges and receives God’s help.
The difference between struggle and fulfillment is the help of God. The difference between sin and righteousness is the help of the Lord, the difference between success and failure, between victory and defeat in life is the help of God. This is grace and it is available today to everyone that will yield to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help someone today to see the need for, and the provision of salvation in Jesus name.
