Bible Reading: Psalm 58; Revelation 14
“And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, trust in thy sickle, and reap; for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe” Revelation 14:15 (KJV).
Before the final harvest of the saints by the angels of the Lord at the last day, there is an ongoing harvest of sinners into the kingdom of God. Jesus admonished the disciples to look into the field because they are already ripe for harvest. If they were riped then, by now, one should expect that they are already over-riped. There is an urgent need to take the harvest of souls very serious. Jesus asked the disciples to pray the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into the field.
There is an increasing need for more labourers. Even though, we have so many believers, labourers are still few. Many believers today are only baby Christians who are only concerned with their personal issues and what God will do for them. Christians today are running after the blessings of God and their major preoccupation is comfort, wealth and material acquisition, only few are kingdom minded.
The mandate and great commission to go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature has not been given serious attention by so many Christians. We have become so consumed by our personal needs that we have lost burning passion for the lost.
The final harvest of the saints by angels is being delayed by the church who has failed to harvest souls into the kingdom. God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. In his love and mercy, he keeps exercising patience for the church to arise and preach the gospel which is the power of God unto salvation.
PRAYER: Dear father, help us to harvest the lost for you.
