Bible Reading: Psalm 59; Revelation 15
“But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou has been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble” – Psalm 59:16 (KJV).
Everyone needs defense from evil and trouble. Some people can afford to have security men to guard them but not everyone can afford that. Besides, the very guard we hire need to be defended also because they too are vulnerable and weak. Some people resort to demonic and occultic means in search of defense and safety, but except the Lord watches over a man, the watchman watches but in vain.
God is our defense, He neither sleeps nor slumbers. He is Omnipotent, He is Omniscient, He is Omnipresent. Only God has these three attributes. He defends us from the onslaughts of the devil and his cohorts; He hides us under the shadow of his wings. He shields us by His spirit and wraps us with His loving hands.
His love, His mercy and His grace are shields over us. His word is a shield; our faith in Him shields us from the devices of the devil. Whenever the accuser comes to accuse us before Him, He defends us as an advocate. He reminds the devil of the price He paid on the cross for our redemption.
He is our defense and shield from the power of sin, sickness and affliction. He ensures that no weapon fashioned against us prospers, His name is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and he is saved.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” – Psalm 91:1 (KJV). He gives His angels charge over us, to keep us in all our ways.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for being my defense.
