Bible Reading: Psalm 62: Revelation 18
“God hath spoken once, twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God” – Psalm 62:11 (KJV).
So many people claim they have power to do whatever they want to do. As a result of their perceived power and wickedness they kill, afflict, and intimidate others. Some because of their connection with Satan and his demonic agents boast of their evil exploits. They see themselves as invisible and untouchable. One thing they fail to understand is that God, the giver of life, can withdraw their life at His will. God does not need their opinion or their permission to snuff off their lives. Whether spiritual power, economic power, mental power, physical power, legal power or political power, they are all subject to God. “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God” – Romans 13:1 (KJV). The power to make wealth and the power to enjoy wealth come from God. “A man to who God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanted nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease” – Ecclesiastes 6:2 (KJV). It is the failure to understand that God is the source of all power that results to pride and arrogance. When we understand that God is the source of all powers, we will see things differently and live life differently. The impunity and arrogance we display will give way to humility and meekness. “For who maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou didst not receive? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?” – 1 Corinthians 4:7(KJV).
When one truly understands that power belongs to God, one will be grateful to God, embrace humility and meekness with godly fear. Power does not belong to satan and his cohorts. We don’t have to fear Satan and his agents. Jesus has disarmed Satan. All power in heaven, on earth and beneath the earth belongs to God and He gives power to whosoever He wills. He has the power to give life and the power to take life.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to truly understand and live in consciousness that power belong to you.
