Bible Reading: Psalm 70
“But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me O God: thou art my help and my deliverer, O LORD, make no tarrying” – Psalm 70:5(KJV)
When God is your helper and deliverer you are safe and secured. God protects them that are His. When a mighty man keeps his goods they are safe and because there is none mightier than God whatever is in His care is secured and sure. The scriptures refers to God as Almighty and All Powerful. What these means is that God has all might and is the custodian and owner of all powers. To validates these the Psalmist said in Psalm 62:11(KJV): “God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” It therefore connotes that if He who is the custodian and owner of all powers is your protector who can dare you.
When you fear the LORD and walk in His instructed ways He will give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. When you follow Jesus, who is the way, the truth and the life, your ways among men will be secured and shall be satisfied with long life and prosperity. The Almighty God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Our trust must be total on God as our helper who will never fail to help His children. The help of man can fail you but God’s help remain constant as the day and night. The Psalmist said, “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man” –Psalm 108:12(KJV). Our father in His unfathomable love is ever ready to help us when we run to Him. God expects us to absolutely depend on Him for help. God’s heart towards us for help is vividly stated in Isaiah 41:10(KJV): “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” When we have God as our helper we are not moved by the things we see but by what the word of God says concerning every situation. In order for us to be helped by God we must believe what He says, live by His scriptural instructions and obey all His commandments.
The greatest help rendered to man was the exchange that took place at the cross of Calvary, where the just was exchanged for the unjust and the righteous for the unrighteous. The burden and pain of the punishment of sin was borne by the sinless Saviour, who gave himself for us so that we who sinned should go unpunished. He offered us a redemption package in grace and enduring love. It is worthy of note that by His death we have been delivered from the terrible pit of hopelessness and despair. “As for the also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water” Zechariah 9:11(KJV). I make bold to say that Jesus is our help and deliverer. Embrace him and be saved, safe and secure.
Prayer: Father, I will ever serve you with a grateful heart for your preservation and sustenance.
