Bible Reading: Psalm 105
.
“And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.” – Psalm 105:24 (KJV).
Everyone on earth has got enemies. Whether within himself, around him or outside him. The bible tells us in Matthew 10:36 (KJV) that “… a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.” So people that are close to you, either by blood or by relationship, are those likely to be such a big thorn in your flesh because you are likely to trust such a person and exercise little caution in your dealings with them. On the other hand, if it’s an outsider, you are likely to exercise due care in your interaction with such people.
But as Christians, the omniscient God has promised us that he would not only increase us but will make us stronger than our enemies irrespective of their closeness to us. The Psalmist says in Psalm 105:24 (KJV), “And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.”
However, God will make you stronger than your enemies if you are not the enemy of yourself. Where you are the problem, God will not prevent you from harming yourself. He has given you the freedom to choose and also advised you to choose right, the rest is left for you. A way of being your own enemy is by committing all forms of sin. In such a circumstance, unless you are ready to forsake your sin, God cannot be your ally. He is a Holy God and requires holiness to back up his creation. Hebrews 12:14 (KJV) says: “Follow peace with all men , and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”
The first step to being stronger than your enemies therefore is by accepting Jesus into your life, asking for forgiveness, forsaking your sins and obeying Jesus on all sides. Once you do so, he promises to give you a new beginning as stated in Isaiah 1:18 (KJV): “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord : though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Once you do this, you have him as your defense and no enemy will be able to win you. God will put you ahead of all your enemies and his word that no weapon formed against thee shall prosper will find expression in your life in Jesus name. You must however ensure you remain faithful to Jesus.
Action Point: Examine yourself that you are in good standing with the Lord Jesus. If not, call on him now, ask for forgiveness and determine to forsake your sins and accept him as your Lord and Saviour. He will surely answer you.
