Bible Reading: Psalm 116
“For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.” – Psalm 117:2 (KJV)
Facts are official data. They are measurable and changeable. e.g. I am a married man, an adult, a Christian and 6 feet and 2 inches tall. These facts were not so some years ago. For example, forty years ago, I was not married, not a Christian and less than 6 feet tall then. So those facts changed over time. However the truth is reality and is unchangeable. I am a spirit being made in the image of God does not change. Also, I am fearfully and wonderfully made remain valid at any point in time.
Some people allow the power of facts to enslave them when in fact the truth is that they are spirit beings and should have power over all facts. This is why it is stated in John 8:32 (KJV): “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The truth is a reality and endures forever. Psalm 117:2 (KJV) says: “For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.”
What then is the truth of the Lord? They are enduring realities established by God. Some of the truths are:
- Firstly, God is the Spirit being who created all things (Gen. 1:1).
- Secondly, Man is created to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion over all living things (Gen. 1:28).
- Thirdly, God created man to fear him and obey his commandments (Eccl. 12:13).
- Next, we can do all things though Christ who strengthens us (Phil 4:13).
- Fifthly, The Lord shall provide all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19).
So as children of God, you should believe the truth and dominate the facts. Thus if the doctors report says you have a terminal disease, you should be able to respond that the truth of the Lord says, you shall live and not die. (Psalm 118:17). There are many truths that pertain to every challenging situation, what we need to do is locate those truths in the word of God.
Action point: Ascertain various facts about your life, home, career and ministry that is challenging God and claim the truths as stated in the scripture concerning those situations.
