Bible Reading: Psalm 119: 65-96
“For ever, O Lord , thy word is settled in heaven.” – Psalm 119:89 (KJV).
The word of God is immutable because it is the truth at all times. It does not depend on the weather, season, location or time. It is independent of your circumstance and so will remain the same whether in Nigeria, UK or USA!
When the word of God is spoken it takes the position of a spirit being and goes to work to effect that which is said. Thus when God said “let there be light”, the word took the form of spirit being and began to bring light immediately such that light came into being instantly. This is why Jesus said in John 6:63 (KJV): “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” So God’s words are living spirits and are therefore operational whenever they are uttered. They are creative as we saw them in the beginning of the earth that the words spoken by God created all the things we have on earth today! So anytime the word is uttered it goes forward to achieve its purpose. Hence Psalm 119:89 (KJV) says: “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.”
That is why when Jesus said to the man at the pool of Bethesda who had been there with his infirmity for thirty eight years, “Rise, take up thy bed and walk” (John 5:1-9), the man was made whole instantly. Similarly, he said to ten lepers that they should go and show themselves to the priests, as was the practice to confirm they were healed. They saw that as they went they had been cleansed! (Luke 17:11-14). This is because Jesus himself is the word and everything he said was in accordance with what he heard from God ( John 5:30). This implies that he was in constant fellowship with God, the father to hear the father regularly.
Similarly, if you want the word of God you speak to fulfill the purpose for which it is sent, you must be in constant fellowship with God. This means you must live a life of holiness as Hebrews 12:14 (KJV) says: “Follow peace with all men , and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”
In addition to living holy, you must fellowship with God continuously so that you can constantly know and do the will of the father!
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, please give me the grace to live a life that fellowships with you constantly and does your will continuously.
