Bible Reading: Psalm 119: 97-120
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. ” – Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
When you walk in darkness, you run the risk of colliding with another object or even falling into a ditch. However while you are walking in darkness and suddenly a torchlight comes on, you feel relieved as you will see all obstacles that are on your path. The word of God performs the role of a light on your path if you take your time to study it and meditate on it.
The function of lamp on your feet is to ensure you do not step on the wrong side of the road or hit your leg against obstacles on the road as the lamp will illuminate the obstacle thus giving you the opportunity to avoid it. Similarly, a light on your path would have shown you all obstructions ahead of you so that you will plan ahead on how to tackle such challenges.
The word of God will equip you with wisdom to address thorny issues that come your way. Thus when the issue of two women claiming the same child as theirs came up, it was wisdom based on the word of God that Solomon used to find out the real mother ( 1 Kings 3:16-28). It was the same word of God that Peter spoke to the lame man at the beautiful gate and he became whole ( Acts 3:2-8). When the storm became vociferous that the occupants of the boat had to wake Jesus it was the word that Jesus spoke to the storm that caused it to be still ( Mark 4:36-39).
The world is full of challenges and a number of times the facts presented to us could be overwhelming which is what Satan wants so that we may not have enough time to face our purpose in life. However the truth is that there is a word of God for every situation. Every challenge or storm has a calming word. What is critical is for you to find that calming word and speak it into the challenge.
A woman got to the hospital sometimes in 2017 to check her daughter who was to deliver twins only to find the three of them dead. Fortunately, the woman knew at that point that she needed to speak the word of God into the situation to turn the table around. And she did. She prayed and annointed her daughter and the twins. The three of them that had been certified dead in the hospital woke up and ended up leaving the hospital as living souls instead of corpses! If the woman did not know the word of God and applied it that day, she would have gone home sorrowful such that greater obstacles could have fallen on her path as she sorrows over her child and grandchildren. But knowing the word and applying it at the right time lighted up her path. What is the challenge that is creating obstacles on your path; is it sickness, joblessness, failure, or barrenness. The word of God concerning you today is that you will prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospereth. You will carry your own children in good health and you will fulfill your purpose in Jesus name. So note today that concerning God; Psalm 119:105 KJV says: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Prayer point: Father, teach me to use your word to light my path at all times in Jesus name.
