Bible Reading: Psalm 120
“In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.” – Psalm 120:1 (KJV)
God is available anytime or anywhere you call on him. This provides some succour because sometimes, you are faced with a dangerous situation in an unexpected location that you may not have access to anyone for help.
You could have done all you know and the situation does not change. You then realize the only other option available is to call on God. This was the position with Hannah. She had waited for pregnancy for years and nothing happened and the second wife to her husband was always pestering her life because she had no child. She thought of what else she could do in her distressed position and therefore decided to go to the house of God and called on God to express her grief. It was in her grief state that prophet Eli saw her and felt she was drunk as she was talking to God. This distress call got the attention of the Almighty and she was answered. Thus she became the mother of Samuel. ( 1 Samuel 1:1-20)
Are you going through such a distressful situation and you do not know what else to do? The Psalmist provides a solution in Psalm 120:1 (KJV) “In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.” Please call on God expressing your grief to him and he will surely answer you. It does not matter how long the issue had raged or how difficult or impossible it is, our God specializes in making the impossible possible.
But God hearkens to the voice of the righteous or a sincere heart. If you have not accepted him as your Lord and Saviour, you need to do so for your voice to reach him. On the other hand if you had accepted him as your Lord and Saviour but you have back-slided, he may not hear your distress call because according to John 9:31 (KJV), “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.” So the only way he can hear your call is if you make right your ways with him and sincerely forsake your sins.
Action point: Call on God on your area of challenge and ask him to intervene and turn around your situation in Jesus name.
