Bible Reading: Psalm 121
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1-2 (KJV)
The world is full of challenges. When you get out of one, another crops up and you keep wondering why you have to continue like this. Sometimes you wonder why you are faced with such challenges as a believer when the unbeliever appears to be having no problem inspite of his sins.
If you are in this state, you are not alone as there are quite a number of people on earth in a similar position though the challenges may have different colorations. Job in his trial stage made allusions to such people in Job 21:7-15 but he also gave the answer in Job 21:30 (KJV): “That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.” So the wicked will face judgment and so you should focus on how to get God’s attention so that you do not end up like the wicked. Proverbs 11:5 (KJV): “The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.”
It is note worthy that every time a man faces a trial or temptation, he is being examined for faithfulness and his choice will determine his reward. Just like a student that faces a promotion examination. If he passes, he goes to the next class but if he fails, he stays in the same class until he is able to pass the exam.
Similarly, when you are faced with all sorts of trials and temptations, God is preparing you for a higher level but needs to ascertain your faithfulness. Thus, Joseph was faced with the option of sleeping with his master’s wife or going to jail. The temptation was after he had been unjustly sold to slavery, so he had human reasons to justify falling for the temptation but that would have dragged him back from fulfilling his purpose on earth.
Whatever you are facing right now, just consider Psalm 121:1-2 (KJV): “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” God is ready to help you as long as you are ready to give your heart to him in total submission to his will.
