Bible Reading: Psalm 122
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.” – Psalm 122:1 (KJV
Going into the house of the Lord implies seeking the Lord. And to seek the Lord is what God demands of us. He actually enjoins us to seek his kingdom first in every area of our lives. Matthew 6:33 (KJV) says: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” So whatever we may be looking for, God expects us to place him first and seek his face so that he can show us the path to take. He knows that the devil puts a lot of obstacles on our path every day and the only way we can navigate our path uninjured is by seeking his counsel on how to go. Jesus Christ himself says in Matthew 6:34 (KJV) “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
So with each day full of evil, the best thing to do is to acknowledge God and let him direct our path. Proverbs 3:6 (KJV) reminds us, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Not only this, he promises to see us through the way with his instructions. Hear him in Psalm 32:8 (KJV), “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
These are promises of God as long as we put him first. He actually advises that if we seek him early, we will find him (Prov. 8:17). However it is not all that seek him early that will find him but those that love him as their love will make them obey his words. Furthermore, such people should fear him as that is part of his commandments ( Eccl 12:13). This essentially implies honouring God by always putting him first. Once you do this, you will always desire the presence of God. And you will be able to say as in Psalm 122:1(KJV): “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
Prayer point: Father, give me the grace to put you first in everything I do in Jesus name.
