Bible Reading: Psalm 135:1- 21
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” – Psalm 100:4 (KJV)
Praising God is a great weapon often used to dislodge the devil. Praising God is stating that one acknowledges him as the Supreme Being. It is a way by which we can get closer to God; a way of getting into the inner court of God. (Psalm 100:4).
While we may pray wrongly because we do not know how to pray, praising God genuinely will draw us closer to God and cause us to get answers quickly to our request.
When Jehoshaphat was faced with a war that he knew he could not win by virtue of the strength of his army, he called on God and God responded that he should leave the battle for Him. At war front, Jehoshaphat got singers to praise God and He caused Jehoshaphat’s enemies to destroy each other. 2 Chronicles 20:22 (KJV) says: “And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.”
Similarly, some years ago, I was working in a bank as a General Manager and the bank had issues with the Central bank of the country (the Regulator of banks in the country). Then two of my colleagues got me offers to be MD of two different banks. I took the issue to my Pastor to pray and advise me. Before he could revert to me, I was praising God in one of our programmes in the church one day without asking for anything, suddenly, God spoke to me and gave me answers to the four questions I asked my pastor to pray on. He spoke to me so audibly that I could not miss it.
Praising God is a great way of getting God to answer your prayers, give you instructions or even perform miracles that prayer may not deliver to you.
But why do people praise God often and nothing happens? Well, because in a number of cases, the mind is not there. You need to ensure that your total being is connected to praise God. Body, soul and spirit should be united in praising him. If you do so, you will begin to get speedy answers to your prayer and more importantly, develop a better relationship with God.
Action point: Praise God with all your body, soul and Spirit for thirty minutes today and see what God Almighty will do.
