Bible Reading: Psalm 140:1- 13
“Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.” – Psalm 140:13 (KJV)
In situations of war, there are still a few safe places. The issue is identifying the safe place and ensuring that it remains safe in the midst of the war. Also in times of famine or recession, there are still places that no one will experience economic hardship. While others are finding it difficult to take a meal a day, some are feasting every day. That was the situation in Goshen, within the land of Egypt, as shown in Genesis 47:6 (KJV) “The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: …”
That is God’s plan for his children. The bible says in Psalm 140:13 (KJV), “Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.”
And in the presence of God, there are Joy and pleasure (Psalm 16:11), Safety (Psalm 91:1-2), prosperity ( Gen 39:2-3), health (Prov. 4:20-22), wisdom, knowledge, riches, wealth and honour ( 2 Chronicles 1:12) amongst others.
What you need to take possession of these things is to be in the presence of God at all times. To do this, you need to be thankful always (1 Thes 5:18) and praise Him regularly ( Psalm 100:4). This is what the twenty four elders do in the presence of God in heaven all day and night ( Rev. 4:10-11). For these thanksgiving and praises to be acceptable to God, it must flow from a heart that is in alignment with Him. That entails being at peace with all men and living a life of holiness. (Heb 12:14). That is what it takes to be upright and thus have access to God’s presence.
Prayer: Father, the grace to be upright with men and with God, give to me today in Jesus name.
