…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Psalm 147:1- 20

“Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” – Psalm 147:5 (KJV)

Understanding could be explained as having insight or good judgement. While infinite means limitless or endless in space, extent or size; impossible to measure or calculate.

So an infinite understanding means having insight that is beyond measure; an unimaginable judgement. That is what God has. This is succinctly stated in Psalm 147:5 (KJV), “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” To every believer, this means that your father has a reservoir of insight into everything that you need, all you need is to draw on it. So it does not matter the issue confronting you, all you need is to seek the face of God concerning the issue and he will open the reservoir unto you.  The bible says in Matthew 6:33 (KJV), “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

You are to seek for direction from God in all situations. Some specific examples are:-

  1. When you are perplexed and you do not know what to do or you are confronted with powers or enemies too strong for you. Just call on God and be attentive to him. He will give you instructions on what to do. Such instructions may appear foolish but just ensure you obey. Jehoshaphat , the king of Judah was faced with three nations that were each stronger than his army but when he called on God, he was asked to sing at war front. He did and won the war against the combined army of the three nations!
  2. When things appear to be going so well and you appear to know all the answers. Not all that glitter are gold. Don’t judge any event by the appearance. In the case of King Jehoshaphat, things appeared great for the combined army of the three nations that they would have assumed that they would win easily since each of them was even stronger than the army of Judah! But the result is different because, Judah tapped into the reservoir of God’s understanding.
  3. When you are about to begin anything, you need to ask if that is His will for you. Some years ago while I was working in the banking sector in Nigeria, I felt I needed a change from the bank I was working and seek greener pasture more so that the bank was having a major challenge with the regulatory authority, the Central bank of Nigeria. I sought for opportunity and then I had offers through other colleagues to be Managing Director of banks. This was very attractive but then I decided to seek God’s face on what I should do. By the time he answered me, he said I should not go to any bank but stayed where I was and pray for promotion. I did and soon I was sent to Harvard Business School for a three month program and thereafter promoted from a Divisional Director to an Executive Director. More importantly, the bank I would have gone was later acquired by my bank and the Managing Director was fired! God knows the end from the beginning; let’s ask him always.

Prayer: Father, give me the grace to seek your kingdom and your righteousness first in everything that I do in Jesus name.
