Bible reading: Proverbs 25
“He that hath no rule over his spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls” – Proverbs 25:28 (KJV)
He that puts no restraints to his affections and passions, as the word signifies, no guard against them, no fence about them, unable to curb his curiosity, to check his pride and vanity, to restrain his wrath, anger and revenge, and to keep within due bounds his ambition and itch for vainglory; [is like] a city that is broken down [and] without walls; into which they may go with pleasure, and which is exposed to the rapine and violence of everyone. And so a man that has no command of himself and his passions, but gives the reins to them, is exposed to the enemy of his soul – Satan, and is liable to every sin, snare and temptation.
Prayer: Lord, I declare that you are at work in me, both to will and to do of your good pleasure. Your Word is correcting my emotions, changing my mind, thus helping me to act right in Jesus name. Amen!
