Bible Reading: Isaiah 1
“The ox knoweth his owner and the ass his masters crib but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider” – Isaiah 1:3 (KJV).
I had an unpleasant experience one day that I cannot forget. I visited one of my sons in the ministry; I had a nice time with the family. I left the next morning for an appointment, on my return, I boldly walked into the compound but as I approached the gate, I was greeted by the lion looking dog. It was an experience I cannot forget. It was as if the dog wanted to pull the gate to eat me up. I had to retreat, to avoid being lynched. To my greatest surprise, as soon as members of the family returned, the same aggressive dog suddenly turned and became so friendly to them. As soon as I came in to join the family, the dog became aggressive towards me. I suddenly realized that the dog was not familiar with me but it knows the owner.
Many people pray to and work for a God they do not know. They claim to be ambassadors or ministers of a God they do not know. The seven sons of Sceva attempted to represent and minister in the name of a God that they have no relationship with. The possessed man they wanted to deliver pounced on them. They had to escape through the window. The demons asked them who they were… “and the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye” – Acts 19:15 (KJV).
It was obvious that Paul and Jesus had a disciple – master relationship. Paul recognized Jesus as Lord and master but the seven sons of Sceva had no relationship with Jesus. While some people have Satan as their master, others have occult men as their masters, and others still have self as their master while some have money and materials things as their master. It must be understood that whoever or whatever controls your life is your master. Who then is your master?
PRAYER: I submit to the Lordship of Jesus.
