Bible Reading: Isaiah 29:1-end
“I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will uphold thine hand, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles” – Isaiah 42:6(KJV)
Sequel to our discourse of yesterday we shall be examining the true and sure covenant which was established by the blood of Jesus Christ between God and man. The original intent for creating man was for him to rule over God’s physical creation, having the Spirit of God in him that livened his spirit and ushers him into the realm of immortality. Man was created in God’s image and likeness supposedly to be a god with physical body given authority to have dominion over all of God’s physical creation. However due to disobedience and not abiding by divine instruction man lost its authority to the devil and God’s Spirit was removed from man. This assertion is supported by the scriptures in Psalm 82:5-7 (KJV), “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.” The foundation of the earth is out of course means that the original intention of God for creating man has been derailed and those created to have dominion and rule over the earth has become, and die, like ordinary men. The hunger and desire of man to attain immortality is a natural desire but the direction taken will never lead to it. Seeking for the seed of immortality from magic and occult practice will never be achieved because the seed of immortality is with the Immortal God himself. It is God’s desire to bring man back to eternal life, and that prompted the coming of Christ, who is the seed of Immortality. “Now to Abraham and his seed where the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as one, And to thy seed, which is Christ” – Galatians 3:16 (KJV). At the fall of man, God spoke in prophecy on the suffering of Christ, the seed of the woman and on the crushing of the devil when He said, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel” – Genesis 3:15 (KJV). One can see from this verse of scripture that it is a futile attempt for one to acquire immortality through the back door.
However, Christ has brought immortality to us as stated in 2 Timothy 1:10 (KJV), “But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” We are beneficiary of this eternal life by the entrance of Jesus Christ into our life. We receive into our life the seed of immortality, which is Christ and he being the Word, opens up our heart for the entrance of the Spirit of God thereby consummating our divine nature which is eternal. Jesus said “…I am the way, the truth, and the life…” – John 14:6 (KJV). That Jesus Christ is the giver of everlasting life is authenticated by his declaration in John 3:16(KJV), “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The word of God are divine promises to humanity by God and the entrance of this promises infuses divinity (God’s nature) into man, and divine nature cannot die, 2 Peter 1:4(KJV) “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”.
The coming of Christ established the everlasting covenant between God and man through his blood. That is the true and sure covenant that confers us with everlasting life which is the life of God. Seeking for eternal life through occult and mystic practice is a futile attempt which is a misadventure that is regrettable. I implore you my dear reader to open your heart to receive this great and wonderful gift “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” – Romans 6:23 (KJV).
Prayer: Father, thank you for making me a partaker of the everlasting covenant that was sealed by the Blood of Christ.
