Bible Reading: 2 Chro.25; 2 Thess. 2:10-17.
“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:” – 2 Thessalonians 2:11 (KJV)
The bible refers to Ahithophel, a counsellor to King David who decided to conspire with Absalom, the son of David to overthrow his father as a wise counsellor. 2 Samuel 16:23 (KJV) says: “And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.”
Because David knew the gift of God to Ahithophel, he decided to pray to God against it. Look at David’s supplication in 2 Samuel 15:31 (KJV): “And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Lord , I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.” But the gifts and calling of God is without repentance. ( Rom 11:29). So the gift of wisdom to Ahithophel was not taken from him by God but in answering David’s prayer, God made Absalom to believe the counsel of another counselor, Hushai and this made Ahithophel’s counsel (though it was the best in the circumstance but Absalom believed Hushai instead!) looked foolish. This led to the loss of Absalom at the battle.
So God can answer your prayers in any way he chooses as he has control over everything. The bible says in Proverbs 21:1 (KJV): “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord , as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” Thus, God can turn the heart of anyone to fulfill the purpose intended. Thus those who refuse to believe God will be easy preys for the devil. Romans 1:28 (KJV) puts it succinctly: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”
It is therefore easy for any unbeliever to believe a lie so that they could be destroyed. This is explicitly stated in 2 Thessalonians 2:11 (KJV): “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:” It is imperative as children of God that we keep seeking his face so that we remain close to him and therefore able to discern all issues as they come our way. More so that he has given us the grace to call on him any time and he will answer us. (Matt 7:7).
Prayer point: Father draw me and my household closer to you and let destruction be far away from us in Jesus name.
