Bible Reading: Nehemiah 10: Philemon 1:9-18
“Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me” – Philemon 11 (KJV).
The gospel has the ability to change the worst of sinners to a saint. It transforms a man from a useless and unprofitable life to a great asset both to humanity and to God. Through the power of the Gospel, addicted drunkards are changed to have self control and live responsibly. I have seen horrible prostitutes converted by the power of the gospel of Christ and become responsible parents and wives. No one is a write-off as far as the gospel is involved except those who refused to yield to the transforming power of the gospel. Armed robbers and kidnapers can become committed Christians and preachers of the gospel. The gospel can change the worst of sinners and integrate them back into the society to meaningfully contribute to the development of the community they once sought to destroy.
Onesimus was in time past unprofitable and injurious to Philemon but through the power of the gospel, Apostle Paul transformed him to become profitable both to Philemon and to the kingdom. He was so changed that Apostle Paul was willing to include him in his team. Don’t give up on yourself or on others, be open to the gospel and experience life in a new dimension. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jews first; and also to the Greek” Romans 1:16 (KJV).
One becomes profitable as a blessing to humanity and the kingdom as one embraces the transforming power of the gospel. A new life is born making the person responsible and useful. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV).
PRAYER: Today I pray that you embrace the power of the gospel and experience real transformation in Jesus name.
