Bible Reading: Esther 9; Hebrews 6: 1-10
“If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame” – Hebrews 6: 6 (KJV)
There is a general prayer which is often said by people who have a function they are looking ahead to have and it appears that the resources to execute the programme is foot dragging, at that slow pace of flow of resources they pray, ‘may we never be exposed to shame’. Shame is “feeling of distress and regret as a result of one’s own wrongdoing, failure, foolish behaviour, etc or that of people one is associated with.”
Shame is a terrible experience which could make one withdraw into his cave. A lot of us will do everything humanly possible to prevent us from getting into that mess. However, as we try hard to do this for ourselves, we most times are not bothered to see what become of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer in our open and secret disposition. The writer of Hebrews made it clear to us the need to leave the principles of the doctrine of Christ and go to perfection. He moved on to mention the doctrine namely, repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, baptisms, laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement. Even though we know that we cannot be saved without all these basics of Christianity, we are not to remain there for any reason rather we should move on to maturity in our relationship with the High Priest of our calling, Jesus Christ.
Our days are full of people who are relishing in apostasy. This happens simply because they are not careful enough to be guided by what have been handed over to them. What are those area where you are currently careless with your Christian experience? Folks, it is possible to lose your enlightenment, heavenly gift and all of the experiences you had with God if you fail to hold on to your estate. What are those things you are getting involved in at the moment which is putting Christ to open shame? It may appear you are having your day now, but I tell you it cannot last long no matter what. Stop exposing Christ to open shame as a result of your attitude among your colleagues, friends etc. Stop crucifying the Son of God afresh, if you fail to stop that, be sure that you shall be put to eternal shame.
Prayer Point: Father, I receive grace to desist from exposing you to shame and I return from my backslidden state. in Jesus name.
