Bible Reading: Job 12: Heb. 10:17-25
“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water” – Hebrews 10: 22(KJV)
Perseverance is a verb (action word). According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary. Perseverance means “to continue trying to do or achieve something, despite difficulties”.
The passage read has given us the assurance that Christ has fully atoned for our sin. That we do not need any other sacrifice for our sins (v.18). And that Christ has opened the entrance into the holiest place in heaven for us to come daily by way of Christ to meet with God. The Holy Spirit is challenging us through the writer of Hebrews to “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water” – Hebrews 10:22 (KJV). By this admonition therefore we are expected to do the following:-:
To hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering for he is faithful that promised v. 23 To daily consider one another to provoke unto love and good works. v. 24
We must not give up Christian fellowship (meetings) v. 25a
We must encourage one another daily. v.25b
What is your current level of perseverance? Are you caving in already or you are constantly looking up to Jesus the author and finisher of your faith to see you through? Have you started fading in your love for Christ and fellow brethren? What part are you playing about good works which God encourages us to carry out to all men especially to those in the household of faith? “And let us not be weary in well- doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men especially unto them who are of the household of faith” – Galatians 6:9-10 (KJV).
Are you a channel of encouragement or discouragement to fellow pilgrims? Do you also give in to discouragement easily or you always strive to encourage yourself in the Lord via His word? Please note that whatever the situation is, you are called to persevere till we see Jesus face-to-face.
Prayer Points: O God, help me to keep my banner of perseverance flying till I see Jesus.
