Bible Reading- Job 14; Heb. 10:34-40
“…Knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance” – Hebrews 10:34b (KJV)
Treasures are always hidden away from the eyes of people and difficult to find. To find a treasure you need a guide or map to locate it. Perseverance is needed to find any of such substance. The Geologists will appreciate this better. To locate the treasures in the soil, engineers have developed good equipment which can detect them even in the harshest of conditions. The world has deviced means through which they can locate these enduring treasure which can easily be stolen by a thief who gains access to the place where it is kept.
Incidentally, the Holy Spirit is the guide, map, better compass to navigate to God’s hidden treasures. With that in your heart, you should lay up for yourself treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. There is therefore need to maintain our confidence in Christ and wait patiently for Him. Also, we must never renege on doing the will of God because it is in doing it that we have the promise of God. You should never get to a point in life when you conjecture that Christ, who has been keeping for us our enduring substance, shall not come. The Scripture confirms that He shall come: “for yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” – v.37
As a result of the above, you should not conceive in your mind to draw back from your commitment. Are you contemplating going away from the Lord or reduce your zeal in serving the Lord? Do not do that no matter what it cost you. If you do that, God shall not be happy and this will lead to perdition: “but we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul” – Hebrews 10:39 (KJV). Always live with the consciousness that you have a better and an enduring substance in heaven. Will you make it there?
Prayer Point: Dear Lord, help me to lay treasures in heaven and enable me to wait on You till you come in Jesus name.
