TOPIC: BLOOD OF JESUS.
Bible Reading: Job 21; HEB. 12:19-25.
” And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” – Hebrews 12:24 (KJV)
When an innocent soul is killed unjustly, the natural expectation is a cry for vengeance. This was the case of Abel who was murdered by his brother Cain out of jealousy. The bible says in Genesis 4:10 (KJV): “And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground”.
The blood of Abel cried out for justice and God gave him justice by cursing Cain. Genesis 4:11-12 (KJV): “And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand; [12] When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.” This is the natural consequence of killing innocent souls unjustly. However, this order was reversed in the case of the Lord Jesus who was killed in the most gruesome manner. He was crucified on the cross and the bible says in Galatians 3:13 (KJV): “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”
But instead of heaping curses on all that killed him, rather in Luke 23:34 (KJV): “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” So the death of Jesus, instead of curses and vengeance, brings forbearance and propitiation ( Matt 26:28); gives eternal life ( John 6:53-54); reconciles the sinners unto God (Col 1:20); makes it easy for everyone to enter the holy place instead of the Old Testament practice that limits it to the priests ( HEB 9:12).
The blood also purged our conscience from dead works to serve God (HEB 9:14); sanctifies our body (HEB 13:12); cleans us from sin (1 John 1:7) and makes us to overcome the devil (Rev 12:11).
Prayer: Father, let the blood of Jesus cleans me from all forms of sin in Jesus name.
