Bible Reading: Psalm 3; 1 Peter 4:1-10.
“Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.” – 1 Peter 4:5 (KJV)
Accountability is one of the watch words of a Christian. Our God loves accounts. Thus, he has decided to hold everyone accountable on the last day. You shall account for everything including the words that you speak all through your lifetime! Matthew 12:36 (KJV) says: “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”
God expects us to give account of everything we do. So as a Christian how well do you give account in your place of work, whether as employees or even employer? If God were to call you to give account, will you pass the test knowing that nothing can be hidden from him? It does not matter what others are doing in the office, you are the salt of the earth, you should be different in your operation.
Some years ago, I felt the need to go outside the church protocol and use my resources to do some things in the mission field. I then told my Pastor. While he did not object, he asked me to remain in the church as I needed to have a home church. I got home and shared the same thing with my wife. Surprisingly, she agreed with the Pastor, so I felt I needed to go to God and get the final answer. After a few days of waiting on him, he spoke to me. God will speak to you in the midst of your confusion. He told me that I must be accountable. That sorted everything out. So I went back to my pastor and ensured that every kobo I spent, I gave account to him.
It does not matter who owns the resources, whether yours, the organization, or others. Everything belongs to God and so you must first be accountable to him and this will keep you on your toes to ensure objectivity, truthfulness and completeness in your service. May your service be acceptable to God in Jesus name. Ultimately, everyone of us will give account of all our activities on earth to God on the last day. The bible says in 1 Peter 4:5 (KJV): “Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.” So we are better, practicing that accountability now to further prepare us for the day of judgement. I pray you will not miss heaven in Jesus name. Such accountability covers every area of our lives; in our marriage, among our families, friends and associates, at work, in the church of God and even in governance!
Action Point:
Check your life and identify areas where you are not fully accountable and make amends.
