Bible Reading: Genesis 3, Ephesians. 6
“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.” – Gen 3 : 4 (KJV)
We live in a kingdom ruled by words. Men rise, reign and fall by words. Satan understood that in this kingdom men take dominion through words, and he is aware of the effect of words to men. Hence , he learnt the idea of firing fiery darts through words.
In our text, the serpent engaged the woman in a conversation where terrible, blasphemous thought and unbelief was presented to the woman to take away her shield of faith. The serpent gave her those furious suggestions of evil and excitement to sin. He forced the woman to confess what information God told her which was the basis of her confidence in God. This was a clear indication of a warfare of Information. It is not out of place to say therefore, that it was not the woman Satan wants to attack but the very thing that keeps her at peace with God – HER FAITH IN GOD. Gradually, her shield of faith was taken away. Hence, the woman desired the tree. Suddenly, the woman had received another information and acted upon it, thereby changing her object of belief and conviction.
Satan throws multiple distractions, trials and ideas, and false information at God’s children and without the strength of faith and total trust in God, these can easily engulf us and make our heads spin and their intensity could take our eternal life.
No one rises from this kingdom apart from the basis of the revealed word that becomes the basis of your confidence. The very moment the Rhema (the spoken Word) hits you, HOLD ON to it, that’s the SHIELD OF FAITH. Satan comes with all gimmicks of doubts and unbelief, be careful what you hear, as long as you refuse to bend that shield of faith of yours, the devil can’t attack you. He spoke to Jesus, he too can speak to you too.
In Ephesians 6:16, Paul demonstrated the full stature of the believer. He said: “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” There are certain kind of weapon needed to win some kind of war. With the shield of Faith you can win and be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
The bible said something about that man that falls prey to the fiery darts of the enemy.. A DOUBLE MINDED MAN, let him not think that he will receive anything from God. (James 1:7-8). That will not be said of you in Jesus name .
I pray you will be like ‘Job’ that held on to His trust in God and declared: “Though He slay me yet will I trust in Him” – Job 13:15a (KJV).
Prayer:
Lord I sanctify my eyes and my ears, I refuse any report that is not of God.
