Bible reading: Genesis 19, 20.
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” – 1 Cor. 10:13 (KJV)
Abraham had watched the smoke rise from what was left of Sodom, God has called him to live as a stranger in the land of Canaan. So he is staying in Canaan, a Philistines city and their king was Abimelech.
Abraham’s infamous lie jeopardized the safety of his beautiful wife Sarah. He told the king that the woman was his sister. Abraham knew that such statement would cause Sarah to have to fulfill the torrid desires of a heathen king. She finds herself being bathed and perfumed to be offered up as an offering of lust for the passions of the king. Imagine her shock, the fear that was upon the first lady of faith. Her husband has failed her, but her God did not fail her.
So God spoke to Abimelech in a dream. notifying him of the death penalty on him for taking Sarah, the wife of another man. The king confessed his innocence and God let him be, but with a warning.
Consider Sarah, I did not know what she prayed but I know she cried out to the only one she had left! May be she said ” God of Abraham I need you to be my God too, save me from this pending fate.”
Friends, be encouraged, when it looked like Sarah’s voice was not heard, God heard her. Just call out to Him, He is your God too. He will hear you.
God shut up all the wombs in the kings household. He spoke out for Sarah when no one else would. That same God will speak for you.
Maybe there is someone in your life who selfishly threw you into a tempestuous situation, take Courage!!! Just because Satan sets a snare does not mean you can’t escape. The God we serve is able.
Prayer.
Father, when it looks like I am in a fix, and nothing I can do from a human position, please, LORD, Come to my rescue.
