“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
We saw that God listens when we complain and God supplies more than we ask. The Israelites learnt this firsthand when they started to complain because they wanted food. God heard their complaints and gave them manna to eat in the morning and quail to eat in the evening. However, God did provide instructions along with these wonderful blessings. ISRAEL WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE ONLY WHAT THEY NEEDED.
Readers, sometimes we have a lot of needs, and sometimes we won’t have any. Sometimes our needs will be overwhelming. Sometimes they won’t. No matter what our needs are, you and I must follow Paul’s example here, and be content whatever the circumstances. Because God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. It is important to remember that little word “all” …not “some” …not “only one or two” … He will supply all our needs!
Paul knew what it was to be in need, and he promised the Philippian Church, “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” We must always remember there is a big difference between our wants and our needs. A need is something that is absolutely essential, something that is indispensable, something that you and I must have in order to live. Food and water, shelter, clothing, and transportation are things we all need in life and to survive. A want is something I would like to have, something I may wish or long for, something that I find desirable, but it is not something that I must absolutely have. I can live without having all my wants supplied, but all my needs must be met.
Matthew 6:19-21, admonishes us, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
When we invest in material things, moth and rust will destroy them, or thieves may steal them, but when we invest in heavenly treasures, they last for eternity. If what you treasure is on earth, your heart, your priorities, will be centered on material things. If your treasure is in heaven, your heart, your priorities, will be centered in spiritual values. My God is still in the business of “supplying all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus “.
Beloved, whatever needs you have, God wants you to know that His supply will be there for you. You have His Word for it. He promises that He will supply all your needs, not just some. And He will supply all your needs according to and not out of His riches. This means that He lines up from A to Z all of His resources for your every need!
My friend, rejoice that you are rich “according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” This is far greater and more dependable than the temporal riches that you might have from any earthly source!
Prayer:
Father, thank you for supplying all my needs. My fears is gone. Because you live, I shall live healthy and wealthy.
