Bible Reading: Psalm 47; Revelation 6:1-8
“God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness” – Psalm 47:8 (KJV).
The Almighty rules in the affairs of men. He raises up kings and pulls down another. Power does not belong to men, it belongs to God and he gives it to whosoever he wishes to. Sometimes people are deceived to believe that they are power brokers. They often feel that they are invincible and all powerful because of their perceived wealth, political connections and privileged opportunities. They often forget that the Almighty rules in the affairs of men. Throughout all ages, powerful leaders like Pharaoh, Herod, Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar have risen to great heights and great fame and they attempted to occupy the position of God. Each one of them learnt a life time lesson that makes it clear that Power belongs to God. They all learnt in very hard ways with unforgettable experiences.
For those who have yielded to the Lordship of Jesus, he reigns in their lives. Such people are subjects of his kingdom. It is a reign of love and joy. But for those that fail to recognize his Lordship, God however reigns over them but not in them. For those in the kingdom of darkness, satan reigns in their lives through lust and self defeating habits. Satan manipulates their lives and afflicts them, his reign is abusive reign; God’s reign is a loving one. This love can only be enjoyed by those who have been translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s dear son. Satan, the god of this world, is only in control of the evil system of this world. God, the omnipotent, rules over his creations.
When one yields to his Lordship, he enjoys peace, joy, hope and the love of God in a father-son relationship.
Prayer: Dear Lord, bring the sinners to the Lordship of Jesus.
